During this time of concern for the CoVid-19 virus, for the sake of our patients and staff, our office is complying with CDC and PA Department of health guidelines for cleanliness and protection from the virus.
Straughn Chiropractic is open and available to see established and new patients at this time. Do not hesitate to contact our office to schedule an appointment. If your call is not answered by a staff person, please leave a message on the answering machine and someone will return your call as soon as possible.
We ask that if you have experienced a cold or flu in the past two weeks, or have had any current symptoms such as a fever, cough, sneezing, diarrhea, nausea, or fatigue...you consult our office prior to scheduling an appointment.
Thank you for your cooperation and as always, we look forward to seeing you!
Upon entering our office, one of our team members will greet you and welcome you as a member of our chiropractic family. We will request you fill our patient forms located in the New Patient Center. The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition.
Consultation
Next you will have a consultation with Dr. David Straughn to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. Your first visit is designed for Dr. Straughn to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations to determine whether chiropractic care will you meet your goals.
Examination
After your consultation, Dr. Straughn will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations. Dr. Straughn's goal is to get to the root of the issue rather than just treat the symtom.
X-Ray Studies
Your specific condition may require x-rays to be taken of your spine. If this is determined by Dr. Straughn, he will provide a script and options as to outside locations that provide this service. X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays and can often immediately identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.
Report of Findings
On the second visit, the findings from your exam and x-rays will be presented to you and your care plan will be presented to you. Four basic questions will be answered for you:
1.) What is wrong with you? 2.) Can we help you? 3.) How much will it cost? 4.) How long will it take?
We will answer your questions in a compassionate, friendly manner. This visit takes about 30 minutes. Your care plan will be presented to you and then your visits will be scheduled accordingly.
Treatment
Patients will generally be provided with their first treatment at the conclusion of their first appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies.
Once you are an established patient, the typical office visit takes about 10-20 minutes. You sign in and then you will be escorted to a treatment room. The doctor will be in momentarily to evaluate and treat you.
Wellness Program
Prior to leaving, patients will be instructed on a wellness program to be conducted at home. If you are in pain when you first come intor our office this may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire an overall wellness lifestyle, our wellness team will work with you to create good habits and routines that support your success. Every body is unique and different and therefore everone requires a unique and customized wellness plan. The foundation of our overall wellness lifestyle is maintaining healthy posture and good spinal alignment, eating a healthy diet, taking supplements, keeping your weight under control and stress relief.
"Dr. Straughn helps me ongoing by keeping my back and neck aligned. I work as a nurse and am on my feet for long periods of time. I do a lot of lifting and pulling as well as computer work. I hardly ever go home with a low back ache like I used to. Thank you Dr. Straughn for all you do!"

"I am a 15 year old horseback rider. In 2006, I was in a bad horse accident leaving my neck shifted to the left slightly. I visited Dr. Dave 2-3 times a week and after, my neck was straight again. It works! I'm continuing riding. I wouldn't give it up for the world! Thanks Dr. Dave!"
